About the Curbside Chronicle
The Curbside Chronicle is Oklahoma’s street paper created to provide both a voice and employment opportunities for people who are experiencing and at risk of homelessness. In addition to providing a source of income, the Curbside Chronicle works with vendors to break down barriers to traditional employment and develop time management, money management and social skills. Street papers like the Curbside Chronicle enable people to earn enough money to get into housing and end their homelessness. Another core mission of Curbside is to create community and build relationships. Our vendors chip away at social barriers, stereotypes and stigmas one magazine at a time.
The Curbside Chronicle is a program of the Homeless Alliance, a nonprofit organization in Oklahoma City whose mission is to rally the community to end homelessness. The organization works to build the capacity of the community through collaboration with other agencies and build a system that is more efficient, rationale, and caring. The Homeless Alliance has several housing programs for families with children, veterans, people who are HIV positive and people who are chronically homeless — 1,887 people were assisted with housing in 2022. The Homeless Alliance also operates the Westtown Homeless Resource Campus which includes a Resource Center with offices for multiple nonprofit and government agencies, a housing complex, and a Day Shelter that serves an average of 300 people (and their pets) each day.
